The Walkabout Foundation’s mission is two-fold: to build awareness for paralysis and disabilities and to raise funds to find a cure for Spinal Cord Injury.

Building Awareness

The Walkabout Foundation's "Building Awareness Campaign" focuses on educating citizens on paralysis and disabilities and keeping public attention on the possibilities of a cure for Spinal Cord Injury. The campaign teaches citizens about Spinal Cord Injury by means of newspaper articles, pamphlet distribution, website postings, and events. The Walkabout Foundation is currently working on an awareness campaign in the town of Greenwich, Connecticut, raising concerns in the local newspaper that the newly refurbished community YMCA is not wheelchair accessible.

Finding a Cure

Today, scientists are closer than ever to finding a cure for paralysis. In the United States, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Denmark, Germany, and Israel, doctors are working hard to re-establish function for those with Spinal Cord Injuries using a variety of different techniques, including Stem Cells. The Walkabout Foundation sponsors medical research that is on the brink of finding a cure for nerve regeneration and therefore, Spinal Cord Injury.
